KUCHING, Feb 28: A local Sarawak Bumiputera company, Tempah Digital Sdn Bhd, has successfully developed the SEED Programme Monitoring System (SPMS), a digital solution designed to streamline project monitoring and enhance efficiency under Sarawak Metro’s Socio-Economic Enhancement Development (SEED) Programme.
Sarawak Metro chief executive officer Ts Mazli Mustaffa, praised this milestone, emphasising that it aligns with the company’s goal of creating economic opportunities for local players through the SEED Programme, which adds value to the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) Project.
“We are indeed happy to see that a local company has taken up the challenge to develop this digital solution to further enhance our SEED Programme initiatives,” he said in a media release after the official handing-over of the system to Sarawak Metro today.
Developed by young and talented professionals, SPMS serves as a key component of the SEED Programme, reinforcing Sarawak Metro’s commitment to skills development and the growth of the local public transport industry.
As part of its efforts to nurture local expertise, Sarawak Metro placed an IT staff member in an attachment with the system vendor during the development phase, ensuring knowledge transfer and capacity building.
Additionally, the SEED Programme offers a six-month internship for local university students, providing them with hands-on experience in system development.
“SPMS not only improves project monitoring for our SEED Programme but also ensures that we develop the necessary skills and expertise locally. More importantly, this initiative aligns with our long-term vision of nurturing Sarawakian talent and strengthening the local public transport industry’s ecosystem,” Mazli added.
He also commended the KUTS Project’s Systems Package 1 contractor, EPR Mobilus Global Rail JV Sdn Bhd (EMGJV), for supporting the initiative and praised the capabilities of local talent in driving digital transformation.
Meanwhile, Mazli highlighted another key initiative under the SEED Programme—Sarawak Metro’s collaboration with EMGJV to ensure the timely development of the Kuching ART Assembly Facility (KAAF).
“It has always been our aspiration to see the ART (autonomous rapid transit) being assembled locally by our talented workforce, further strengthening Sarawak’s role in advancing sustainable public transport,” he said. — DayakDaily
