KUCHING, March 27: Lauding Kuching Food Aid (KFA) for its donations to the B40 group in Kpg Peya Mebi here, Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang hopes for more of such kind gesture to feed the less fortunate people in the state.

Lo, who is also Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman, also cited the recent case in Kpg Haji Baki, which was in total lockdown due to Covid-19 pandemic, where donors were very generous to give food aid.

He was on hand to present the donation of 100 packets of rice and other food items from KFA, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) to the recipients, including single mothers from the village.

Lo said he lauded the gesture of KFA, which was represented by its coordinator Maria Mohd at the ceremony.

“I really appreciate the effort by KFA, which shows that there are people who are caring to help the less fortunate in midst of our society,” Lo said.

Maria, meanwhile said KFA was established in November last year and has helped the less fortunate people across the state, including those in the remote areas.

“We have a network in Kuching, Bintulu, Miri and Sibu and we will continue to donate food, particularly to B40 group who are hardly hit by Covid-19 pandemic and having no food on their table after losing their jobs,” she said.

According to her, KFA liaises with local elected representatives and community leaders to identify those really in need of such assistance.

She expressed gratitude to the state government and the elected representatives for being very cooperative with KFA’s effort.
