MIRI, Oct 7: The National Budget 2020, to be tabled in Parliament on Oct 11, would give focus into Sarawak’s development through high impact projects, said Senator Alan Ling.

The high impact projects for Sarawak, he pointed out, will be implemented once they were approved by the federal government.

“The distribution of Budget 2020 would be fair and equitable including for Sarawak, compared to previous year,” he said when met after the launching of a telco retailer in Marina Bay today.

Without elaborating on the specifics of the high impact projects, he only revealed that the projects were aimed at spurring the economy and raising the people’s standard of living.

“We have already submitted the high impact projects for Sarawak and once the Cabinet approved it, they would be carried out in a fast manner,” he added.

Ling, who is also Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sarawak secretary, expects the projects to be rolled out next year.

The third meeting of the second term of the 14th Parliament will take place for 36 days, starting today until Dec 5, and will see the introduction of several new bills and amendments of existing bills to improve the country’s legal and administration systems.

On Oct 11, the main focus and questions will indeed be on the tabling of 2020 Budget by Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng and the amounts to be allocated and distributed to the relevant sectors.
