Liew Tang Chieh elected new AAS Kuching branch chairman

KUCHING, Dec 29: Senior lawyer Liew Tang Chieh has been elected unopposed as the new Advocates Association of Sarawak (AAS) Kuching branch chairman.

Desmond Sahathevan was also elected unopposed as the new vice chairman, while Benny Zaidy Jalil and Nicholas Wung returned as branch secretary and treasurer respectively.

Bartholomew Lopez joined Alan Bong Kit Khoon, Emeric Teo and Dayangku Sa’adiah Awang Hipni to continue to be committee members, while Daniel Ling and Catherine David were elected new committee members.

According to a media release today, the newly elected members are expected to serve for a two-year term from 2022 to 2024.

The election of a new committee was held during the Branch’s annual general meeting on Nov 24 at the Ultimate Professional Centre, Jalan Bukit Mata here.

The branch extended its appreciation and special thanks to the outgoing chairman Sarbit Singh Khaira and committee member Saifunnizam Sam for their services and contributions during their tenure for the term 2020 to 2022. — DayakDaily
