KUCHING, Oct 12: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has criticised certain minority parties for allegedly using social media to create negative perceptions of Sarawak, saying the State government will not allow such efforts to derail its progress.

He said the spread of misleading information and falsehoods would only undermine collective efforts and disrupt the momentum Sarawak had worked hard to build.

“Whether driven by jealousy, an attempt to divert attention or other motives, the spread of misleading information and falsehoods serves only to undermine our collective efforts, and disrupt the momentum we have worked hard to build.

“Ultimately, we will not allow negativity to distract us from our mission, or derail Sarawak’s progress,” he said when tabling the Supply Bill (2027), 2026, or Sarawak Budget 2027, at the State Legislative Assembly (DUS) today.

Abang Johari stressed that the State government would remain focused on delivering development, creating opportunities and improving the lives of Sarawakians.

“Let the people and society judge us by our policies, our actions, and above all, the results we deliver. I am confident they will stand with our noble mission,” he added.

He also called on Sarawakians to move forward with confidence, courage and unity as the State works towards 2030.

“Let us make these final years towards 2030 years of extraordinary delivery and transformation.

“Together, let us build a Sarawak that is prosperous and inclusive, sustainable and competitive, confident in its identity, secure in its future, and increasingly respected for its place in Malaysia, ASEAN and the world,” he said. — DayakDaily
