MIRI, Dec 27: Minister for Transport Sarawak Datuk Lee Kim Shin has commended the role of the community in Miri for helping the needy regardless of their religious beliefs.

“Despite their different faiths, they help one another, as such, we must strengthen these values in creating a caring society,” he said at the handing over of the Darul Ehsan Mosque, Piasau Jaya’s monthly assistance to 55 orphans and 44 Asnaf (needy) here today.

On the programme itself, Lee expressed his appreciation to the mosque’s welfare and social bureau for helping the needy.

He said Sarawak is blessed for having a caring community, whereby they look after one another regardless of their religious beliefs.

“Here in Sarawak, we have various houses of worship and they work together helping the needy within our community,” he opined.

He added, such a strong spirit of working together among the various communities helped deepen Sarawak’s caring society and creating bonds among each other.

On another note, Lee also reminded the people here to continue adhering to the standard operating procedures (SOP), such as the practice of social distancing to curb the spread of the Covid-19 infection.

Also present during the programme was the Darul Ehsan Mosque’s chairman Temenggong Datuk Abdul Rahman Fadzail. — DayakDaily
