KUCHING, Sept 20: A 44-year-old female lecturer and a 33-year-old male primary school teacher lost their lives in a two-vehicle accident at Jalan FAC-Petra Jaya today.
Kuching District Police Chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah said that both victims were pronounced deceased by medical officers at the scene.
The accident was reported to have taken place at 12.15pm today.
“Both victims succumbed to their injuries at the accident site. The first victim is a 44-year-old woman who worked as a lecturer.
“The second victim is a 33-year-old primary school teacher,” he said in a statement today.
The bodies of both the deceased were transported to the mortuary at Sarawak General Hospital for further procedures.
An investigation into the accident, which involved a Perodua Bezza and a Honda Jazz, is currently underway under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Meanwhile, Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak swiftly despatched its team from the Petra Jaya Station following a distress call at 12.08pm.
Upon arrival at the scene, they discovered that both drivers were unconscious with the male driver trapped inside the Perodua Bezza while the female driver was not pinned.
The firefighters took immediate action to extricate both victims from the vehicles.
Additionally, they also carried out works to clean the accident site from oil spillage. The entire operation ended at 3.31pm. — DayakDaily
