KUCHING, Aug 11: Learning from Bau’s history can serve as a catalyst to drive socio-economic development in line with the aspirations of Greater Bau 2030, says Tasik Biru assemblyman Dato Henry Harry Jinep.
In a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) report, Henry, who is also the Deputy Minister for Transport (Riverine and Maritime), said that understanding Bau’s history through books can provide a solid foundation and be the first step towards a better future.
“When there is a big vision that needs to be implemented, such as in the food sector or small businesses, the more branches that are established, the better the results.
“All this happened because of the history of how we want to develop and how we want residents to continue to live here by providing facilities so that everyone can live comfortably,” he said.
He said this during the launching ceremony of the ‘Revisiting The 1857 Bau Miner’s Uprising’ book at the Bau District Office Complex on Saturday (Aug 9).
Henry added that proceeds from the sale of the book, which costs RM30 per copy, will be donated to the Bau Hwa Gong Temple.
The book is one of the main components of the Bau District Blueprint. — DayakDaily
