TAIPEI, Sept 4: The Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA)’s Darul Hana Redevelopment Project has placed Sarawak’s community-centred development approach on the global stage after receiving recognition at the Asia-Pacific Sustainability Action Awards (APSAA) 2026.
The project was recognised under the Sustainability Action Award Social Inclusion category, which highlights impactful initiatives in social inclusion and sustainable development in Sarawak.
According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), LCDA Corporate Affairs senior manager Saiful Bahari Amra Ramly received the award on behalf of LCDA general manager Datu Sri Zaidi Mahdi at the awards ceremony in Taipei, Taiwan, recently.
Also present was LCDA corporate affairs manager Sapheri Rosli.
The recognition reflects LCDA’s approach to development, which goes beyond physical transformation by placing equal emphasis on stakeholder engagement, socioeconomic progress, community well-being, and sustainable urban redevelopment.
Through the Darul Hana Redevelopment Project, LCDA adopts a community-based approach to ensure development is carried out in a balanced manner, taking into account residents’ needs and interests.
The initiative also aims to create long-term value for the community while strengthening the implementation of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles across LCDA’s development initiatives.
APSAA is a regional sustainability awards programme organised by the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE) and involves organisations from across the Asia-Pacific region.
The recognition further reinforces LCDA’s role in advancing Sarawak’s sustainable development agenda and its commitment to delivering development that benefits communities while contributing to the State’s socioeconomic growth. — DayakDaily
