SIBU, Mar 3: The Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA) recently helped Rh Dingon Megong, Skim Sekuau fire victims with their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.
Organised by LCDA together with Selangau district office, Yayasan Sarawak, Baitulmal Sarawak, RISDA Sarawak, Sibu division health office and District Development Committee (MJKK), 163 villagers from the 22 pintu (doors) longhouse received financial contributions totaling RM11,000 or RM500 per household, RM10,000 for its JKKK and vouchers to redeem clothes.
On Feb 10, the villagers were left homeless after a pre-dawn fire destroyed their longhouse located at KM45 Oya Road near Sibu.
According to LCDA press statement today, school uniform, used clothes and other necessities were also given to the school children.
“The main objective of this programme was to apply the value of care to those in need. This also serves to foster closer relationships between all the agencies involved with the local community. Other agencies will follow suit later,” the statement said. —DayakDaily
