KUCHING, Jan 6: Sarawak Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Chong Chieng Jen has appointed lawyer Michael Kong Feng Nian as his special assistant.
Chong, who is the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs deputy minister, said Kong, 34, will help him service his constituents, Stampin parliamentary and Kota Sentosa state constituency, better.
“Equipped with his legal background and his passion to help the ‘rakyat’, I am confident we will be able to further enhance our services and taking care of the needs of the people around my areas,” he told a press conference at Democratic Action Party (DAP) headquarters here today.
With the latest appointment, Chong now has three special assistants including Abdul Aziz Isa and Sim Kiat Leng.
When asked if Kong is a potential candidate for future elections in Sarawak, Chong said he won’t rule out any possibilities.
“For now, he is my special assistant,” Chong said, adding that it was still too premature to assume that Kong may be a candidate in the future.
He said that those in his area who needs assistance from him can contact Kong at 013-8199191.
In the past, two of Chong’s former special assistants, Christina Chew and Dr Kelvin Yii, stood as candidate in state and parliamentary elections respectively.
Chew was a one term assemblywoman for Batu Kawa, while Dr Yii is the current Bandar Kuching MP. — DayakDaily
