MIRI, Jan 6: Burglars walked away with cash and valuables amounting to RM5,000 yesterday after breaking into a house at Taman Tunku, while the occupants attended Sunday Mass.

The victims made the discovery after returning from the Church service at 10.30am. The culprits fled off the scene with stolen items including RM2,000 in cash, which was kept inside three containers.

Prior to the discovery, the family had went to St Dominic and The Rosary Church in Taman Tunku around 8.45am. They returned home only to discover that their belongings were scattered all over the floor.

It was believed that the thieves might have gained access into the house via one of the windows.

One of the victims, a 54-year-old housewife, has lodged a police report on the incident. It was understood that the stolen cash was her son’s savings. — DayakDaily
