KUCHING, Nov 5: The Lawas Town Bridge will be opened to the public following its soft launch tomorrow morning, ahead of its official inauguration on Nov 18 set to be graced by Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
According to a TVS report, the construction of the bridge was completed on Oct 15. Regional Corridor Development Authority (RECODA) chief executive officer Datu Ismawi Ismuni said that the bridge has obtained its Certificate of Practical Completion and has undergone a road safety audit.
“We have received the Certificate of Practical Completion along with the road safety audit, which means the bridge can be used by the public tomorrow,” he said during a special press conference on the soft launch of the Lawas Town Bridge at the Northern Region Development Agency (NRDA) meeting room here today.
He added that the bridge’s soft launch ceremony will be officiated by Deputy Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.
Ismawi said the bridge’s distinctive design and lighting system would also make it an iconic landmark for Lawas town. – DayakDaily
