KUCHING, Feb 22: The federal government is committed to meeting the needs of the people and will ensure that the proposed Lawas hospital, Petra Jaya hospital and Miri hospital are completed without further delay.
In stating this today, Works Minister Baru Bian revealed that invitation to re-tender for the proposed Lawas hospital project was called on Feb 15 this year, and the tender documents would be on sale on March 4.
In response to Lawas MP Datuk Henry Sum Agong’s call to the federal government to resume the Lawas hospital project, Baru assured that Putrajaya had no intention of abandoning this initiative.
In fact, the Pakatan Harapan government was fully aware of the critical need for this hospital, and his ministry had completed its review of the proposal.
“The project was started in 2011 and was expected to be completed in 2016. However, the building works have not even begun,” said Baru.
On the `sick’ Petra Jaya hospital project, Baru, who is also Selangau MP, said the re-tender documents would be available for purchase this coming Monday (Feb 25).
As for the Miri hospital project, he said the invitation to tender was expected to be in early April this year. — DayakDaily
