5 nabbed in Bintulu for breaking into church

BINTULU, Feb 22: Five local men, aged between 20 and 30, are being detained until March 4 in connection with a church break-in case and on suspicion that they might have a hand in other house break-in cases in this district.

One of the suspects was found to have a criminal record for house break-ins.


Bintulu police chief Supt Zulkipli Suhaili said the suspects were arrested at around noon on Tuesday (Feb 19) during `Ops Pintu’, led by Insp Nixon Malang.

A television set was also seized.

“Following the arrests, police discovered stolen items in three locations, Bintulu old bazaar, Kampung Jabai area and in Sebauh,” he said in a statement today.

The items seized were mobile phones, musical instruments, a television set, and two speakers. — DayakDaily
