KUCHING, Aug 21: A pile of rubbish and items meant for recycling as large as 400 x 200 feet at a recycling centre in Taman Genesis Moyan went up in smoke early this morning.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) received a distress call around 3.37am.
They despatched 21 firefighters, two fire engines and one water tanker from Batu Lintang, Padungan and Petra Jaya stations to the scene at Batu Kawah.
Firefighters immediately performed a fire break to prevent the fire from spreading.
They managed to bring the flames under control at 4.45am.
Operations Commander Di-Hatta Gobel said no building was affected and no injuries reported.
Bomba is still investigating the incident. — DayakDaily
