KAPIT, Nov 27: A landslide triggered by heavy rainfall hit and damaged the kitchen areas of six units at Rh William Ubu longhouse near Sungai Sut early this morning.
Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Kapit responded to the emergency at around 3am and swiftly deployed a team of firefighters to the scene.
No injuries or casualties were reported, although the kitchen areas of the homes were partially coated with brown mud.
Firefighters advised the approximately 20 residents of units 12 to 17 to vacate their homes temporarily and seek shelter with relatives, as the ongoing heavy rain could trigger another landslide.
The affected area has been cordoned off to prevent access and ensure the safety of the residents.
In a separate incident, another landslide struck Rh Jawa on Jalan Selirik at around 7.40am.
Firefighters reported that the landslide caused the kitchen area’s supporting column to become unstable, raising concerns that further rainfall could trigger another landslide.
Reports on both incidents will be submitted to the relevant agencies for further action. — DayakDaily
