Landslide hits house in Kg Sg Apong, senior citizen unhurt

Firefighters are seen monitoring the situation outside the house that was affected by a landslide that occurred last night (Oct 18, 2020), in Kg Sungai Apong.

KUCHING, Oct 19: A 61-year-old woman was unharmed after her house in Kampung Sungai Apong was affected by a landslide last night.

According to the State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre in a statement, a team of six firefighters from Bomba Tabuan Jaya led byPBK II KUP Jeffery Koboi, was deployed to the location after receiving information regarding the incident.

“After arriving at the location at 8.50pm, the operation commander reported that the house structure was affected by the landslide. However, a 61-year-old woman who inhabited the house was unharmed,” it read.

It was also revealed that firefighters helped to remove some of the victim’s important documents and personal belongings from the house.

“Sesco staff were also at the location to monitor the situation as the landslide also affected nearby electrical poles,” the statement added. — DayakDaily
