SIBU, Nov 5: One candidate is appealing for people’s support to win for the first time while the other is hoping to win three times in a row.

Gabungan Parti Sarawak-Sarawak United Peoples’ Party candidate for P211 Lanang in the 15th General Election (GE15), Wong Ching Yong is calling on the 80,000 some voters in the constituency to send him to Parliament.

“Try me first for the next five years. If you feel that I am not serving well, you can remove me in the next election.

“I am ready to be removed if I cannot serve well because this is the practice of democracy.

“Only in this GE15, give me the opportunity to serve you,” said Wong to reporters at the Lanang GE15 Parliamentary Nomination Centre at SMK Methodist here, today.

He said changing the old guard will only happen if the people support him.

“We have been under the Democratic Action Party (DAP) for two terms or 10 years. So this time change should be made in the Lanang parliamentary seat,” he stressed.

Meanwhile, two-term MP Alice Lau (DAP) hoped that Lanang voters will give her a third chance to bring their voice to the Parliament.

“Give me the opportunity for the third time to represent you. I will carry your voice as before as long as I am your representative,” she appealed.

She said the people can see what she has accomplished during her two terms as MP of the area.

“This GE15 is very important because it has an impact on Malaysia and not only on Sibu and Sarawak.

“Therefore, I hope the people can make the best choice for the future and our common good,” she explained.

In GE15, Alice will face off against Ching Yong, Priscilla Lau from Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) and independent candidate Dato Wong Tiing Kiong in a four-cornered fight for the seat. — DayakDaily
