KUCHING, May 4: The inaugural Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak 2025–United Kingdom Edition has made history as the first edition of the event to be held outside Malaysia, drawing an enthusiastic turnout of about 230 Sarawakian students from the United Kingdom, France, and Germany.

Spearheaded by the Sarawak government, the initiative aimed to strengthen connections with the Sarawakian diaspora, particularly students and young professionals currently based overseas.

The event was jointly organised by Yayasan Sarawak, Sarawak Volunteers, and the Sarawak Student Association United Kingdom, highlighting the State’s commitment to engaging its global youth community.

According to a report by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), a core objective of the programme was to expose Sarawakian students abroad to the State government’s policies and development agenda under the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.

The initiative also aimed to foster a better understanding of Sarawak’s sustainable development goals and long-term vision.

One of the main highlights was the Sarawak Students’ Townhall with the Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, which provided students with a rare opportunity to interact directly with the State’s top leadership.

The session encouraged students to voice their opinions, share ideas, and gain a deeper insight into Sarawak’s development plans and their potential contribution to the State’s future.

The programme also sought to boost the confidence of Sarawakian students abroad, reaffirming the Sarawak government’s care for their welfare and aspirations.

Participants had the opportunity to explore career prospects through the involvement of various government agencies and corporate partners who support Sarawak’s development initiatives.

The event featured a diverse lineup of activities, including dialogue sessions, career exhibitions, and personal development workshops, all designed to empower young talents and strengthen the network of Sarawakians across Europe.

Key segments of the programme included the Meet & Greet Anak Sarawak, Kenyalang Speaks, Sarawak Dialogue, and the highly anticipated Majlis Makan Malam Anak Sarawak (Sarawak Students’ Gala Dinner). — DayakDaily
