KUCHING, June 23: Water bills in Miri, Bintulu/Samalaju and Limbang for March to May 2020 may be slightly higher or underestimated as readings were based on consumers’ historical average consumption during the Movement Control Order (MCO).
The Northern Region Water Board (Laku) Management Sdn Bhd, in a statement today, highlighted that meter readers were not authorised to work when the MCO was enforced from March 18 until May 12.
“Eventually, on May 13, our meter readers were gradually deployed to sites.
“However, consumers’ monthly water bills had been system-estimated or generated based on consumers’ historical average consumption for March, April and May 2020.
“Thus, bills may be slightly over or underestimated,” Laku explained, adding its meter readers are in the process of issuing bills for June based on actual readings.
For bill enquiries, customers may contact Laku’s hotline for Miri (085-426626/43662), Bintulu/Samalaju (086-318160) and Limbang (085-215644) or visit its customer service counters in their respective areas.
