Labourer dies after falling off building in Sibu

SIBU, Jan 12: A construction worker died after falling 15 feet from a building project at Pulau Li Hua here yesterday.

Sibu district police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the victim, identified as Deli Entri, 65, from Rh Malis, Batu 4, Sebetan in Saratok, was found dead by a colleague at the scene at 2.15pm.

“Police investigation revealed that the victim’s colleague heard a loud thud. He went to see what it was but was shocked to find the victim dead with severe bleeding from his head,” he said.

He added that the colleague, Jawing Menggel, then shouted for help from other workers to bring the victim to Sibu Hospital.

Stanley said police rushed to the scene after being notified by the construction site supervisor, who was the victim’s nephew.

However, the victim was pronounced dead while receiving treatment at the Sibu Hospital Emergency Ward.

It was learned that the deceased was suffering from hypertension and relied on medication and had health records from Sibu Hospital.

The remains have been referred to Sibu Hospital Mortuary for further action.

The case was classified as sudden death. — DayakDaily
