Labourer claims trial to charges of raping his underage sister-in-law

KUCHING, April 12: A 23-year-old labourer pleaded not guilty to two charges at the Sessions Court here today to raping his underage sister-in-law.

Abdul Rahman Nerawi was brought before Sessions Court Judge Marutin Pagan after his 7-day remand expired today. Marutin allowed him to be released on RM20,000 bail with two local sureties.


Marutin also advised Abdul Rahman to engage a counsel for his trial.

He was alleged to have committed incest against his 14-year-old sister-in-law at a workers’ hostel in 4th Mile on December last year and again in a hotel room, between 4am to 11.30am, on April 2.

He was charged under Section 376B(1) of the Penal Code, which carries an imprisonment term of not less than 10 years and not more than 30 years and liable to whipping, if convicted.
