KUCHING, Aug 24: The Kuching Water Board (KWB) has extended its apologies for the occasional discoloured water experienced by consumers in BDC, Tabuan, Stampin, Jalan Matang, Batu Kawa and Samarahan areas here over the past few weeks.

Explaining the situation, KWB said the scouring of sediments in the pipelines was due to water valve operations to facilitate the upgrading and maintenance works at the plant and the occasional increase in the flow rate to address the shortfall due to the closure of the valves.

“Consumers are advised to let the tap run for a while if they experience such a problem.

“Should the problem persist, please contact our call centre at 082-222333 or SMS 019- 8866650,” it said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, KWB said it is actively conducting the flushing exercise at affected areas to clear up the water. — DayakDaily
