KUCHING, Nov 15: The infrastructure package for the Rembus Depot and the Blue Line Package 1 of the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) Phase 1 project have experienced slight delays.

Deputy Minister of Transport Datuk Dr Jerip Susil informed that both projects are currently under a recovery plan to address the schedule slippage and ensure timely completion.

He explained that the delay in the Rembus Depot construction is primarily due to the ongoing completion of ground treatment work.

“Similarly, the Blue Line Package 1 has been affected by the late commencement of utility relocation works,” he said in response to Bawang Assan assemblyman Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh during the question and answer session in the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) Siting today.

Dr Jerip noted that despite these setbacks, the KUTS Phase 1 project is progressing on schedule, with overall progress at 25.80 per cent, slightly ahead of the planned 24.73 per cent, showing a positive variance of +1.07 per cent as of October 2024.

Procurement activities have reached 79.01 per cent, consultation services are nearly complete at 98.34 per cent, and infrastructure works, primarily for the Blue and Red Lines, are progressing at 5.82 per cent. System development stands at 32.09 per cent, while the feeder bus component is at 1.98 per cent completion.

“Nevertheless, our Ministry is making every effort to expedite these activities and remains committed to completing the projects within the stipulated timelines,” he concluded. — DayakDaily
