KUCHING, Feb 11: The new Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Air Operations Force Base near Kuching International Airport (KIA) is set for completion by July this year, while Petra Jaya Hospital is expected to be completed the following month.

Federal Minister of Works, Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, said the RM174 million PDRM Air Operations Base project, implemented by the Public Works Department (JKR) under the Home Ministry, is being developed under a design-and-build contract.

“The scope of work includes the construction of an administrative complex, hangar complex, fuel depot, chemical storage facility, officers’ mess, perimeter fencing, multipurpose hall, covered vehicle garage, transport office, taxiway, apron, hangar, storm shelter, engine ground run (EGR) area, and washing bay,” he wrote in a Facebook post yesterday (Feb 10) after inspecting the project’s progress on-site.

Meanwhile, he revealed that the RM400 million Petra Jaya Hospital project has reached 76 per cent completion and will accommodate 300 beds, underground parking, and various healthcare facilities upon completion.

“The hospital is expected to be completed by August 2025,” he added.

Nanta reminded contractors to adhere to schedules, stressing that project delays could undermine government efforts to improve infrastructure development.

“The government is committed to ensuring high-quality infrastructure, but this can only be achieved with the cooperation of all parties involved,” he said.

He reaffirmed the Madani government’s dedication to delivering essential facilities for the well-being of Sarawakians. — DayakDaily
