Kuching’s daily Covid-19 cases doubled to 205 as Sarawak records 699 new cases

KUCHING, June 11: Kuching’s daily number of Covid-19 cases has doubled from 105 yesterday to 205 today as Sarawak recorded a total of 699 cases.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in its daily statement today said 427 cases or 61.09 per cent of the total new cases detected occurred in Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu and Tatau.


On the breakdown of the total cases, Kuching reported 205, followed by Sibu (79), Bintulu (72), Tatau (71), Song (41), Kapit (31), Bukit Mabong (31), Miri (27), Sri Aman (16), Samarahan (16), Asajaya (16), Lundu (11), Serian (11), Kanowit (9), Subis (8), Sarikei (7), Simunjan (7), Telang Usan (6), Marudi (5), Bau (4), Meradong (4), Belaga (3), Tebedu (3), Sebauh (3), Beluru (3), Selangau (3), Mukah (3), Dalat (2), Julau (1) and Lubok Antu (1).

Of the total cases, 92 were symptomatic while as many as 532 cases comprised individuals who had been instructed to undergo quarantine at designated places.

In short, 441 cases were screened after having contact to positive cases, 113 from other screenings in health facilities, 90 were individuals linked to active clusters, 54 detected from screening of symptomatic individuals, and one Import B case involving an individual returning from another state.

The State also recorded eight new fatalities involving individuals, aged between 53 to 80, bringing the State’s death toll to 342.

On the same day, Sarawak also reported 469 patients had recovered and discharged from hospitals statewide, bringing the total number of recovered and discharged cases to 44,374 or 81.867 per cent.

There are 9,498 individuals still undergoing treatment at hospital isolation wards in the State.

There were 699 new person-under-investigation (PUI) cases reported and none awaiting laboratory results. — DayakDaily
