Kuching woman in 20s among two Covid-19 fatalities, Sarawak confirms 72 positive cases

KUCHING, Dec 6: A 23-year-old woman with asthma from Kuching is among the two Covid-19 fatalities recorded in Sarawak, which confirmed 72 positive cases in 15 districts today.

This thus brought the cumulative cases of Covid-19 in Sarawak to 251,285 and the death toll to 1,596.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in its daily update on the Covid-19 situation in Sarawak, stated that the woman passed away at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).

The other fatality was a brought-in-dead (BID) case involving an 82-year-old man from Kuching with multi-morbidities of hypertension, dyslipidemia, heart disease, and cancer.

Of the new cases, only two people are under Category 5 with pneumonia and required ventilator support and three patients under Category 3 with pneumonia.

There are 29 cases under Category 1 without symptoms and 38 cases under Category 2 with mild symptoms.

As for the breakdown of cases, Kuching recorded 26 cases followed by Bintulu (12); Miri (9); Lawas (6); Sibu and Kapit (4); Sarikei and Bau (2); while Limbang, Samarahan, Asajaya, Lundu, Subis, Tatau, and Beluru have one case each.
