KUCHING, Nov 15: Kuching is set to host the Energy Industries Council’s (EIC) CONNECT Energy Borneo 2025 conference from February 25 and 26 at the Hikmah Exchange Event Centre (HEEC).
Sarawak’s Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability, Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni, shared that the conference will explore themes such as ‘Net Zero as a Catalyst for Economic Prosperity’, ‘Collaborative Actions in Achieving Regional Synergies’, and ‘Strategies for Strengthening Energy Security’.
“I am made to understand that at the heart of the EIC CONNECT Energy Borneo 2025 conference is our commitment to engage more aggressively in the energy transition.
“We all understand that the path to a sustainable future involves collaboration across sectors, sharing innovative concepts to achieve net zero emissions, and decarbonising our operation to meet emission targets in the Borneo region,” he said during a press conference for EIC CONNECT Energy Borneo 2025 held at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) Complex here today.
The event is expected to be launched by the Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
This year’s conference will feature a robust programme, including special addresses from senior government representatives from Sabah, Brunei, and Kalimantan, Indonesia.
“With over 50 speakers, three plenary sessions, leadership round table discussions, and one-on-one business matching, I can see this conference is focused on our key themes to foster deep discussions and engaging in topics related to energy transition and security, represented by international companies.
“This conference will set the pace for many more conversations to follow after the conference,” Dr Hazland added.
Also in attendance were EIC Regional Director Azman Nasir, Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak) Deputy General Manager for Business Development and Research Anedia Kahar, and Place Borneo Sdn Bhd Director and Principal Consultant Gracie Geikie. — DayakDaily
