Kuching, the sole district in Sarawak reporting triple-digit Covid-19 cases today


KUCHING, Nov 4: Kuching is the sole district across Sarawak reporting triple-digit new Covid-19 cases.

This brought the cumulative coronavirus case count in Sarawak to 243,119 to date.

By district, the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement said Kuching registered 190 new Covid-19 cases, the highest among all the districts in Sarawak.


This was followed by Miri (96), Sibu (53), Bintulu (33), Serian (25), Limbang (19) and Mukah (17).

Districts with less than 10 cases include Sarikei (9), Bau (9), Kapit (8), Daro (8), Samarahan (7), Lawas (7), Betong (5), Saratok (5), Meradong (5), Kanowit (4), Dalat (4), Lundu (3), Simunjan (3), Subis (3), Sri Aman (2), Marudi (2), Bukit Mabong (2), Tatau (2), Belaga (1), Kabong (1), Tebedu (1), Asajaya (1), Pakan (1) and Lubok Antu (1),

Nine districts reported zero new Covid-19 cases. They were Tanjung Manis, Pusa, Selangau, Matu, Song, Julau, Beluru, Sebauh and Telang Usan.

Meanwhile, of the new cases, 11 were classified as critical. Among them, six patients in Category 3 reported to experience pneumonia, four patients in Category 4 required oxygen support and one patient intubated.

A total of 338 Covid-19 patients in Category 2 were exhibiting mild symptoms while the rest of 178 were asymptomatic Covid-19 patients in Category 1.

SDMC also reported 19 more Covid-19 deaths, bringing death toll in Sarawak to 1,401.

Two new workplace clusters were declared in Kuching while two active clusters ended.

There were no new cases emerged from existing active clusters while there is a total of 27 active clusters of Covid-19 in Sarawak. — DayakDaily
