SRI AMAN, Dec 22: Road access from Kuching to Sri Aman was cut off in Sg Tenggang this morning, due to flood.

State Disaster Management Committee secretariat chief, Major Ismail Mahedin from the state Civil Defense Force (APM), said the Pan Borneo Highway project in the Sg Tenggang area was flooded because of an overflow of water from the clogged road culvert.

“However, the flood has been receding since 8.30am, although it is still heavily raining at the area,” he said in a statement.

Ismail added that based on the information from the road project contractor at the location, the overflow of water started at 6.30am and it flooded the cut off section for about 20 minutes.

Vehicles have managed to drive through the flooded area, he continued.

“About 100 metres of the road stretch was cut off, with depth of water at about 3ft. A vehicle was stranded at the flooded area and the road was impassable for about 10 minutes,” he explained. — DayakDaily
