KUCHING, March 14: The installation of closed-circuit televisions (CCTVs) in 93 out of 210 locations in Kuching and Samarahan divisions under the Kuching Smart City initiative has been completed and the installations are pending electricity connection to start operations.
Deputy Premier-cum-Batu Kawah assemblyman Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian said the foundation works in 21 more camera locations were completed.
He said this during a recent inspection of a CCTV installation site in Batu Kawah, according to a statement issued today.
“The project is currently in the process of applying to Sarawak Energy Berhad for power supply, and after listening to the report of Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA), Dr Sim promised that he would seek assistance from Minister of Utility and Telecommunication of Sarawak on this matter,” the statement read.
SMA also reported that some installation sites need to be relocated due to certain restrictions such as the site being too close to roads, private lots or having too many underground cables. — DayakDaily
