KUCHING, Jan 4: Thunderstorm warnings have been issued to several districts in Sarawak which are valid until 9pm tonight.

In an advisory notice issued at 4.50pm, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia) predicted heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds in the affected districts.

The affected districts are Kuching (Kuching), Serian, Samarahan (Samarahan and Simunjan), Sri Aman, Betong (Betong), Kapit, Bintulu, Miri, and Limbang.

The warning is triggered when a thunderstorm with rainfall exceeding 20mm per hour is expected to last for more than an hour.

Thunderstorm warnings are short-term alerts, valid for up to six hours per issuance. — DayakDaily
