KUCHING, Oct 3: A thunderstorm warning has been issued for several areas in Sarawak, with strong winds and heavy rain expected until 7pm tonight.
According to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia), the affected areas are Kuching (Bau and Kuching), Serian, Samarahan, Betong (Saratok and Kabong), Sarikei (Pakan, Sarikei, and Julau), Sibu (Kanowit), Mukah (Tanjung Manis), Kapit (Song), Bintulu (Bintulu and Sebauh), Miri (Subis, Beluru, Telang Usan, and Marudi), and Limbang.
“The warning is issued when there are signs indicating a thunderstorm with rainfall intensity exceeding 20 mm/hour that is either nearby or expected to occur for more than an hour.
“A thunderstorm warning is a short-term alert that is valid for no more than six hours per issuance,” said the department. — DayakDaily
