Kuching, Samarahan Division Hawkers and Traders Association distributes food aid to needy

KUCHING, Jan 8: Kuching and Samarahan Division Hawkers and Traders Association has successfully distributed 600 units of dry food aid to the needy under its Caring Food Aid 3.0 programme.

Its advisor Dato Sim Kiang Chiok in a recent statement said the programme was held to assist members of the public and residents of Kuching and Samarahan that is facing hardship due to the Covid-19 pandemic’s lockdown.

He added that the programme was held in conjunction with Hui Sing Food Court’s 28th anniversary of which the Association has invited Datuk Song Swee Guan as the guest of honour in appreciation of his contribution in building the Food Court when he was the Mayor of Kuching South City Council (MBKS).

Kiang Chiok also said the Association has been able to assist with a “Pack Cooked Meal Aid” programme that started from June 2021 until Aug 2021 where it has given out 300 cooked meals everyday.

He further expressed his gratitude to the main sponsor of the programme, 38 Food Street Cafe, which have been collaborating with the Association since September 2021 for the implementation of Caring Food Aid 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0.

“To date, we have given out nearly 9,000 dry food rations unconditionally,” he pointed out. – DayakDaily
