KUCHING, March 24: The two male detainees who escaped from lawful custody at the Kuching Court on March 7 were detained on March 23.
In a statement issued today, Kuching district police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said that the case will be investigated under Section 223/224 of the Penal Code, which carries a two-year jail sentence, a fine, or both.
The first suspect was caught at 12.30am, while the second suspect was caught later at 3.30pm. Both were found within the Kota Samarahan area.
He said that the remand period for the two suspects had been approved for three days until March 27.
Furthermore, he said that urine tests conducted on both suspects tested positive for drugs.
“The police would like to express our appreciation to the public for cooperating with us in channelling information on this case. Those with additional information on the case can get in touch with the nearest police station.
“Alternatively, they may also contact the Kuching IPD control centre at 082-244444 or senior investigating officer ASP Chris Olsen Ramlee at 013-8607572.”
The two detainees, Mohd Hissyalezwan Abd Zamri and Muhammad Nasrie Razali, are still on trial for a case under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code for armed robbery. — DayakDaily
