KUCHING, Jan 13: Kuching Parti Rakyat Keadilan (PKR) is asking for donations to help those affected by floods caused by incessant rain over the past two days.

Its chief Dominique Ng said since last night, the party has been receiving information that many low lying areas in Kuching are experiencing floods.

“Early this morning we—Cherishe Ng (Sarawak PKR Women’s wing secretary) and I—set out to visit a few places that we heard had flooded.

“Among them are Empire Garden at Sg Maong Ulu, Iris Garden, and finally we ended up at Kampung Tabuan Dayak.

“At that time the rain had temporarily stopped and we were able to go down and meet with the affected villagers, especially in Lorong 5 and 10, the worst hit areas,” Ng told DayakDaily.

Incessant rain in the last two days has caused serious flooding in Tabuan Dayak, Kuching.

At these locations, he had informed the affected residents and relevant village committees to produce a full list of those affected.

“We are in the midst of a Food Aid campaign, launched only last Sunday (Jan 10), so we already have some food, but we are asking our donors to help out with these flood victims,” said Ng. — DayakDaily
