Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister tests positive for Covid-19

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 13: Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin has tested positive for Covid-19.

The Communication and Multimedia Ministry’s office in a media statement today said Zahidi was confirmed Covid-19 after he received the results of his Covid-19 swab test this morning.


The office added that Zahidi has undergone his Covid-19 screening last Monday (January 11) upon arrival at Kuala Lumpur from Penang.

It disclosed that Zahidi has been admitted to Sungai Buloh Hospital for treatment and his condition is stable.

The office noted that Zahidi had undergone another Covid-19 screening on December 25 last year and his test results were negative.

Meanwhile, Zahidi is the fourth minister to be tested positive for Covid-19 in less than a week and the fifth minister to have contracted the coronavirus.

Last Sunday, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Economy) Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed was tested positive for Covid-19 upon arrival in Kota Bharu.

On Monday, Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rina Harun were also tested positive for Covid-19.

Yesterday, Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin was confirmed positive Covid-19.

Last October, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Seri Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri was also tested positive for Covid-19. —DayakDaily
