KUCHING, Aug 25: A local man has been fined RM3,000 by the Magistrate’s Court here today for threatening to kill his girlfriend’s male acquaintance out of jealousy.
Hamdan Zainudin, 43, from Kampung Pulo Hilir, pleaded guilty to a charge under Section 506 of the Penal Code, read before Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali.
According to the charge, he was accused of intentionally making criminal threats with the intention to kill the 41-year-old male victim at a rugby field at Jalan Song Kheng Hai at approximately 7.20pm on August 20.
According to the case’s facts, while the victim was at the rugby field, he was suddenly approached by a man carrying a machete and a cane, directed towards the victim.
Furthermore, the accused also uttered criminal threats to kill the victim.
The incident’s cause was the accused’s dissatisfaction with the victim due to his frequent contact with and disturbance of the accused’s girlfriend.
The victim admitted to communicating with the accused’s girlfriend but only as friends, as the accused’s girlfriend often confided in him when disputes arose between them.
As a result of the incident, fearing for his safety, the victim lodged a police report, which led to the accused’s arrest on August 22.
The prosecution was led by Prosecuting Officer Inspector Mohd Adzmei Ahmad, while the accused was not represented by legal counsel. — DayakDaily
