KUCHING, April 9: There will be a total of 208 police officers deployed to ensure road safety and public order during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations in Kuching.
As per a statement by Kuching police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah, the police have made thorough preparations for the festive occasion, and will be strategically positioned at busy spots, commercial areas, and specific locations.
The deployment includes 186 general duty officers and 22 traffic policemen.
“The aim of this deployment is to provide visible policing to the community using the assignment concept of ‘service is accepted and felt’.
“Furthermore, the initiative seeks to ensure the well-being of the community and those travelling on the roads, while also upholding public order in the surrounding areas, particularly within Kuching city during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration,” Ahsmon highlighted.
In the meantime, individuals planning to travel for the festivities should fill out the ‘balik kampung’ notification form, which is available at the nearest police station or online through the Volunteer Smart Patrol (VPS) 2.0 app and the Kuching District Police Headquarters’ (IPD) Facebook page.
Ahsmon also urged those embarking on long journeys to meticulously plan their trips and make the necessary preparations in advance.
“The public is also reminded to drive carefully and always comply with traffic laws for the safety of all,” he added.
