KUCHING Aug 5: As of August 4, more than 300,000 visitors have been recorded at the Kuching Food Festival (KFF) 2023 since opening night on July 28.
According to Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng, last year’s festival logged 370,000 visitors around the same period. He attributed this year’s lower number to the rain, which prevented people from coming.
“Even with the rain the last two nights, KFF still attracted about 20,000 visitors,” he told reporters during a programme held at Vivacity Shopping today.
He went on to say that KFF would want to break a record of 80,000 visitors per night.
“I am asking myself the question of when KFF is going to break that record, and I am looking forward (to it),” he said, adding the festival is doing well despite the weather.
Meanwhile, he encouraged visitors to give constructive criticism on how to make the festival better, adding that a complaint counter has been set up at the festival grounds.
“To us, this is for the betterment of future visitors,” he said, adding that it is better to lodge a complaint through the proper channel than to point fingers and blame the council. — DayakDaily
