KUCHING, Aug 21: Kuching Division recorded 1,860 Covid-19 cases yesterday which were traced to 356 locations all over Kuching, along with 48 locations in Samarahan and 56 locations in Serian and Tebedu.
Minister for Local Government and Housing Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian revealed that according to the figures by the Kuching Division Health Office, 353 cases were from outside Kuching District with Bau (156), Lundu (109), Serian (52), Samarahan (25) and one case each from Miri, Marudi and Betong.
“There were five imported cases with three from Kuala Lumpur and one each from Sabah and Guyana.
“A total of 451 cases were linked to family clusters, 188 cases linked to workplace clusters and 146 cases linked to social clusters,” he shared in his social media post today.
Investigations also indicated that there were 49 sporadic cases, 75 were symptomatic, 169 detected from active case detection (ACD), while 331 cases were still pending investigation.
Dr Sim, who is also State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) advisor, also informed that 915 cases were close contacts of positive cases who have been swabbed in 356 locations all over Kuching.
Among the locations in Kuching with high number of cases include Kampung Bintawa Ulu which picked up 58 cases, Kampung Samariang Batu (55), Medan Niaga Satok (50), KKB Quarters (46) and Kampung Bintawa Tengah (45).
Areas with cases ranging between 25 and 10 are Kampung Rampangi, Lorong Cahaya Damai, Kampung Matang Lot, Taman Malihah, Kim Hin Quarter, Kampung Tabuan Lot, Kampung Sourabaya Ulu, Jalan Chawan, Taman Desa Wira, Kampung Tabuan Hilir, Jalan Arang, SPS Baru Stutong, Kampung Tunku and Kampung Tabuan Dayak.
Localities with cases ranging between 9 and 5 are Taman Matang Jaya, Taman Malihah, Kampung Tematu, Kampung Tanjong Bako, Kampung Tabuan Ulu, Kampung Stutong Baru, Kampung Quop, Taman High Park, Lorong Cahaya Mata, Kampung Tabuan Tengah, Kampung Sri Arjuna, Kampung Semarang, Kampung Muara Tebas, Jalan Ngee Soon, Taman Floro Indah, Tabuan Height, Kampung Semariang Lama, Taman Sukma, Taman Hui Sing, Taman Arbi, Kampung Sg Maong, Kampung Panglima Sama, Taman Sepakat Jaya, Taman BDC, Milan Square, Lorong Song, Jalan Foochow, KMC Flat, Batu 13 1/2, Jalan Wan Alwi and Jalan Diplomatic.
As for Samarahan, there were 117 cases reported which were linked to three clusters, 35 detected from ACD and 122 cases were closed contacts to positive cases in 48 locations.
The localities with high number of cases are Samarahan (76), Simunjan (37) and Asajaya (9).
As for Serian, it recorded 281 cases with 92 detected from ACD, 45 from symptomatic screening and 127 were close contacts to positive cases in 56 locations in Serian and Tebedu.
The localities with high number of cases are Kampung Kakeng (71), Kampung Paon Rimu (23), Kampung Lintang Baru (13), Taman Duranda Emas (11), Kampung Maang (10), Kampung Duras (9), Kampung Baru Mawang (8), Kampung Mundai (7), Kampung Kakai (6), Kampung Krusen Mawang (5), Kampung Krian (4) and three each in Kampung Rimba Padi, Kampung Tangga Plaman and Kampung Masaan. — DayakDaily
