KUCHING, June 25: Police have arrested two more local men, aged 34 and 40, in connection with a commotion and injuring a security guard at a college in Kuching.
Kuching District Police Chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah stated that the suspects were apprehended at Jalan Penrissen last Saturday (June 22).
With these latest arrests, he said a total of four suspects have been detained in relation to the incident that occurred on June 19, and the police are still searching for one for one more suspect who remains at large.
“The investigation revealed that three of the suspects have extensive criminal records involving violence, drugs, and online gambling.
“Urine tests also showed that two suspects tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine,” he said in a statement today.
All the suspects were brought to court today to face charges under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt using a weapon. This charge carries a jail term of up to three years, a fine, whipping, or any combination of these punishments upon conviction.
Additionally, the suspects are charged under Section 447 of the Penal Code for criminal trespass, which is punishable by imprisonment for up to three months, a fine of up to RM1,000, or both. — DayakDaily
