KUCHING, Aug 16: Kuching City FC (KCFC) unveils six new jerseys for the 2026/27 season, with one of its away kits drawing inspiration from Sarawak’s iconic Ngap Sayot era as the club prepares for its maiden campaign at the ASEAN and Asian levels.

KCFC executive chairman Datuk Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman said the red-and-black away jersey is designed to carry the spirit of the legendary Sarawak team into the current squad.

“One of our jerseys, the red and black one, we try to take the spirit of Ngap Sayot and put it into the heart of Kuching City FC,” he said during the launch of the club’s new official kits at Plaza Merdeka here today.

The six jerseys comprise home and away kits for both outfield players and goalkeepers, as well as a third kit for players and goalkeepers.

Fazzrudin said the home outfield jersey is green and white, while the home goalkeeper jersey is yellow. The away outfield jersey is red and black (Ngap Sayot-inspired), while the away goalkeeper jersey is green. The third outfield jersey features a peach and matcha colour combination, while the third goalkeeper jersey is orange and purple, completing the six-jersey lineup.

The first and third kits are already available for purchase at RM149 each.

Fazzrudin also expressed appreciation to the club’s supporters, saying their continued spending on tickets, jerseys and merchandise directly contributes to the club’s efforts to strengthen and develop the team.

“Every ringgit spent will contribute to our income, and we will use it to manage and develop the team,” he said.

He further said KCFC’s progress from its humble beginnings to becoming one of Malaysia’s top teams would not have been possible without the backing of its supporters, strategic partners and sponsors.

The club’s latest strategic partners, Affin Bank and AirBorneo, are also expected to play a role as KCFC enters a new chapter with its participation in ASEAN and Asian competitions.

Fazzrudin said Affin Bank, as the club’s official banking partner, views KCFC as an avenue to reach and develop the community through football.

AirBorneo, meanwhile, sees the club’s participation at the ASEAN and Asian levels as an opportunity to promote its brand beyond Malaysia.

“We are bringing the name of Kuching City, but we are also Sarawak Pride, carrying the Sarawak and Malaysian flags on the Malaysian, ASEAN and Asian stages,” he said.

Fazzrudin added that KCFC will prioritise AirBorneo for routes available to the airline when travelling for matches.

He said the club hopes to use a future AirBorneo route to Jakarta should KCFC play in Indonesia, following the airline’s announcement of plans to open the route.

Responding to a reporter’s question, Fazzrudin said the club will consider introducing a membership programme for its supporters.

He described the proposal as a good idea and said KCFC will study the possibility further.

KCFC is set to make its debut in ASEAN and Asian competitions this season, with Fazzrudin acknowledging that the challenge will not be easy but assuring supporters that the team will give its best. — DayakDaily
