KUCHING, July 31: Kuching, as the first UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy in Malaysia, has launched a new website to support its gastronomy and creative industry sectors at www.kuchingcreativecity.com.
The website was launched by Deputy Premier Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian at the opening ceremony of Kuching Festival Fair (KFF) 2023 at MBKS Community Hall compound here last Saturday night (July 29).
According to a press release, the website featured the first interactive online map of the KFF site featuring all the food stalls and items they are offering.
Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng who is the head of UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) Kuching said the online map of KFF would allow visitors to search online and plan their food adventure at the festival in advance.
“The map includes a full stall listing, with the food provided by each vendor, but also has a search function so visitors can see exactly what they are missing. With so many foods on offer each year, you can now find those hidden gems or old favourites with a stroke of the keyboard,” he reportedly said.
He further said the website will connect directly to UNESCO and the other Cities of Gastronomy to describe all the gastronomic projects and activities going on in the city throughout the year.
Meanwhile, UCCN Kuching strategic director Karen Shepherd said that the website will be updated regularly with new articles and events so that it can grow into the ultimate guide to Kuching gastronomy.
“At UCCN Kuching, our role is not just to promote our food providers. It is also to provide a platform for all our creative people who support the food industry. If you have an idea for a story, pitch it to us and we will put it up!” she stated.
