KUCHING, March 27: A 12-year-old boy, reported missing in Kuching, embarked on an unforgettable adventure after boarding an express bus alone without his parents’ knowledge and travelling almost 11 hours all the way to Kapit.
The child had managed to sneak himself onto the bus and hid between the seats without being noticed by the driver or other passengers throughout the hours-long journey from Kuching to Kapit.
According to a news report by TVS, the child was reported missing at Eighth Mile, Jalan Penrissen in Kuching. He was later found at Kapit Bus Terminal and was immediately brought to the Kapit Police Station by members of the public at around 3.30pm yesterday.
Kapit police chief DSP Rohana Nanu said, upon investigation, it was found that the child boarded a bus from Kuching Sentral on the night of March 25 at around 9.30pm and arrived in Kapit at 8am the next day.
“The child admitted that he boarded the bus of his own accord, believed to be due to his curious and hyperactive nature, which in turn raised concerns among family members,” Rohana told TVS.
The report stated that the parents of the child immediately left Kuching for the Kapit Police Station and arrived at 12.45am early this morning.
The police confirmed that he is safe and there are no elements of crime or kidnapping as alleged on social media.
This case is now classified as No Further Action (NFA) after the child was returned to their family. – DayakDaily
