KUCHING, Sept 5: Borneo Fashion Week (BFW) 2018 promises to be a three-day fashion extravaganza with elaborate exhibitions and runway shows, a spectacular gala night launch and award recognition to celebrate exceptional fashion.

It will run from this Sept 7 to 9 at Pullman Kuching and Cove 55.

According to a press release, over 30 fashion designers from Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia and Iran will be showcasing their magnificent creations here.

For three consecutive days, there would also be a dedicated fashion exhibition by up to 30 exhibitors from the fashion and lifestyle sectors, thus positioning BFW 2018 as an up-and-coming fashion trade spectacle in the region.

At the core of ‘Bring Borneo to the world’ is its exquisite heritage-inspired fashion, crafts and lifestyle brands, with a spotlight on 16 designers helming the exhibition.

The participants are expected to anticipate emerging brands and growing trends in ethnic fashion at BFW 2018, creating an ideal business platform for industry players to connect with local and international buyers.

On Sept 7, the highlights are a ready-to-wear (RTW) runway show of elegant evening gowns and cocktail dresses by famous designers from East Asia and the official launch of the Fashion Week by Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Sarawak Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

On the following day, the highlights are the three distinct RTW fashion shows by local designers. On the final day, there will be a showcase of refined Luxe Resort Wear.

Six prestigious awards will be presented during BFW, namely Emerging Borneo Designer of the Year 2018, BFW Designer of the Year 2018, BFW Designer in the Spotlight 2018, BFW Most Promising Designer 2018, BFW Model of the Year – Male, and BFW Model of the Year – Female.
