Kuching accounts for 144 of 411 new Covid-19 cases in Sarawak

KUCHING, Aug 2: Sarawak reported no Covid-19 fatalities today even as it registered a total of 411 Covid-19 cases with Kuching recording the highest number among all districts again with 144 cases, followed by Bau with 94 cases.

In its daily Covid-19 statement today, the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said new Covid-19 cases in Simunjan have fallen to 29, and Serian and Samarahan have also improving with 26 cases for both districts respectively.

Two other districts recording two-digit increases in Covid-19 cases are Sibu and Lundu, with 21 each.

The Covid-19 situation in Sarawak showed improvement, with 15 districts yielding only single-digit new case numbers while 18 districts did not report any new cases at all.

Meanwhile, 550 Covid-19 patients were reported discharged today.

Currently, there are still 21 Covid-19 patients being treated in Intensive Care Units (ICUs)with four of them requiring breathing assistance.

Of the 411 new cases detected today, 342 of them or 83 per cent did not show any symptoms of Covid-19. — DayakDaily
