KUCHING, Sept 4: The Kuala Lumpur contingent has emerged champion in the tennis event for the Malaysian Government Servants Welfare and Sports Council (Maksak) Games 2022 held at the Sarawak Lawn Tennis Association (SLTA) Complex here today.
The Kuala Lumpur team brought home a trophy, a complimentary trophy, cash prize of RM1,200 and 14 medals, after beating the Selangor contingent at the finals.
Meanwhile, Maksak Johor and Terengganu won joint-third places together.
The prizes were presented by Administration Unit director from Sarawak Premier’s Department, Nicholas Sia, who represented State Secretary Dato Sri Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki at the event.
Other awards included Most Senior Male Player Award won by 58-year-old Jabi Tananak from Maksak Sabah while Most Senior Female Player Award was won by 48-year-old Kamariah Md Salleh from Maksak Pulau Pinang.
The Most Promising Player Awards were won by Mohd Irfan Halim from Maksak Johor (Male) and Syaza Izyan from Maksak Terengganu (Female).
Other special awards featured were Best Male Player Award won by Mohd Faeez Said from Maksak Kuala Lumpur, Best Male Veteran Player Award by Vasuthevan from Maksak Selangor, Best Veteran Double Award by Muhd Najib Ibrahim and Hafizi Mohd Jaafar from Maksak Kuala Lumpur, Best Mixed Double Award by Vijaya Kumaran and Theiviya Selvarajoo from Maksak Selangor, and Best Male Double Award by Akmal Hakim and Najib Mustafa from Maksak Kuala Lumpur.
The Games were held from Sept 1 until today, and saw the participation of 16 contingents from across the nation.
Also present were Maksak deputy secretary-general Wan Muhammad Zamir Wan Mansor, Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) general manager Datu Muhammad Yakup Kari, SLTA president Dato Patrick Liew and Maksak Sarawak secretary Semawi Mohamad. — DayakDaily
