KSCMP set to be a game changer in Malaysia

KUCHING, Oct 6: The Kuching Smart City Master Plan (KSCMP) is set to be a game changer as Sarawak becomes the first state in Malaysia to embark on such a concept, Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers’ Association (Sheda) Kuching chairman Dato Sim Kiang Chiok opines.

Responding to the launch by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg yesterday, Sim said it will set an example of how a new housing area with digital technology will help to create a much more livable environment with efficient services provided by the council.

According to Abang Johari, KSCMP will be rolled out first in Darul Hana, Kuching and gradually expanded to other areas such as Padawan and Samarahan.

“It is indeed an excellent initiative and the right progressive step. As we have seen and are aware, cities in China have successfully incorporated the use of digital technology which has help in the livability, quality and security of the residents. It made these cities peaceful, happier and more productive even in a much higher population density.

“The use of a common operating system in the KSCMP by public sectors and allowing private sectors to collaborate together will enhance the Smart City programme with more application and users, be it for private home security to transportation or even tourism,” Sim said in a statement.

He added that the data collected by this common operating system will be used to improve government services and for private services investment.

Sim also hoped that any collaborations on the program will be easy and cost effective for private sectors to tap into.

With Abang Johari’s vision to see Sarawak grow and progress successfully, Sim asserts that the use of digital technology will put Sarawak on par and as smart as any developed smart cities in the world when the Smart City Program has been implemented successfully. — DayakDaily
